PAST EVENTS & HIGHLIGHTS:

RETHINK BREAST CANCER held the 2nd Annual Breast Fest Film Festival in Toronto November 20-22, 2009 and Lisa Rendall was there! Lisa is one of five young Canadian women featured in a new website and the documentary “About Her” that premiered and kicked off Breast Fest on November 20th at the Royal Ontario Museum. A film crew travelled Canada in the spring and summer of 2009, interviewing the five women about their breast cancer stories.   See the trailer!!! Click here: http://www.tellher2.com/the-documentary/
The one thing they all have in common is a very aggressive form of breast cancer, called Her2+ (Her2 positive) that only 20-30% of breast cancer patients over-express. Luckily there is a targeted therapy - a monoclonal antibody to the Her2 gene called Herceptin. Lisa credits Herceptin as the reason she’s still here today, almost ten years after being diagnosed with widespread stage 4 breast cancer.

“About Her” is a 15 minute documentary by award winning film maker & actress Phyllis Ellis (she was in the reality show The Wilkinsons!). For more information on Breast Fest, go to http://www.breastfestfilmfest.com/   If you have HER2+ breast cancer and would like to meet others,  and share your story, check out the NEW Canadian website www.TellHER2.ca It’s designed specifically for Canadians affected by HER2+ breast cancer. Lisa is featured on the website in a video clip and can be connected with through TellHER2.com.

The TENTH Annual C95 Radio Marathon was an overwhelming success! Not only did we beat all of our previous records for amount of money raised in 36 hours, we surpassed the 2 million dollar mark! In the first 9 years of the C95 Radio Marathon we raised 1.7 million dollars. It was my personal goal to cross the two million dollar mark this year and we did just that when N. Yanke Trucking came by with a MASSIVE donation. We thought they were bringing $5,000 - they showed up with $42,000!! And they raised that in only ONE WEEK! Many of their staff members are now bald and beautiful and we are blown away by their ability to raise that amount of money in one week for the C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research. Our total raised this year was $340,250 (last year’s record was $326,189) ALL MONEY RAISED STAYS IN SASKATCHEWAN and goes STRICTLY to breast cancer research at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.    Ten years of making a difference - The C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research. ♥

The 9th Annual Lisa Rendall Golf Classic Presented by Benjamin Moore was a GREAT success! Lisa presented a cheque for $48,800 dollars in memory of Angela Sather on October 22nd at the 10th Annual C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research.  If you would like me to email your team photo to you, please email me at lisac95@sasktel.net. Because I didn’t organize the event this year I don’t have everyone’s email address so if you want your team photo, fire me off an email and I’ll gladly send it to you!
